Tram Tours

Our most popular tour - recommended for first-time visitors to Angel Island!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the amazing views offered by the open-air tram tour. While you ride around the island, a history-rich audio recording offers fascinating historical and current-day information about various sites on Angel Island. The Angel Island tram stops at Battery Ledyard, one of the best photo opportunities in the bay area. The backdrop is the entire skyline of San Francisco, Alcatraz, and The Golden Gate Bridge.

Our fleet of open-air trams have a maximum seating capacity of 50 guests. We also have a wheelchair-accessible tram, but please email us prior to your arrival if you need special arrangements at here.

Our tram tour guides are known for their superior customer service.

When booking tickets, please keep in mind that reservations close 48-hours in advance. However, we normally have tickets available for same-day purchase in the Café.

The last stop on our insightful tour is the Immigration Museum Station, where you can enjoy some time exploring by hopping off the tram at that last stop. You can walk back to the Ayala Cove (mild-medium exertion, approximately one mile walk or shorter with the 140 terraced dirt steps directly to the ferry dock), or hop back on a tram/shuttle passing if there is room.

Shuttle pickup times are 12:45PM & 3:00PM, with variance of 5-10 minutes. Please allow plenty of time to make it back to the cove for your departing ferry.

Tram tours, shuttles and online reservations are open! We are also currently accepting private event and group inquiries for 2023 at this time.

Currently we are running a revised tram tour route due to a small road closure that occurred during the storms of the winter season. You still experience the entire tram tour, and still get to see all the views of the island; just a little different than we had it before!
